Date: June 4, 2024
Today, at approximately 1900 hours, Commander Vincent Trucchio and Police Officer I Dannick Turcotte initiated a pursuit on a pink SUV. The pursuit, which involved multiple units, ended at the Market Gas Station when the suspect's vehicle collided with a gas pump, causing a leak.
In an effort to ensure public safety, several units, including Police Officer I Dannick Turcotte, took precautionary measures to roadblock the eastbound approach with spikes. Commander Vincent Trucchio and Sergeant Benjamin Ward bravely attempted to extract the suspect from the vehicle.
Unfortunately, and suddenly, the vehicle exploded during the extraction process, injuring both Commander Trucchio and Sergeant Ward. Fire Department units were quick to respond, extinguishing the fire and transporting the officers to Hughes Memorial Hospital. Despite their best efforts, both officers were declared dead on arrival.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of Commander Trucchio and Sergeant Ward during this difficult time. Their bravery and dedication to public safety will not be forgotten.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
