Blueberry Police Department - Ride-Along Program Information

RIDE-ALONG PROGRAM

The Blueberry Police Department offers a Ride-Along Program that allows members of the community to experience law enforcement firsthand. Participants will accompany a patrol officer during their shift, observing daily operations, calls for service, and community interactions.

PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM

The Ride-Along Program is designed to:

Provide insight into the daily duties and responsibilities of police officers
Foster a better understanding between the community and law enforcement
Allow prospective applicants to experience the job before applying
Promote transparency and community engagement

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To participate in a ride-along, you must:

Be at least 18 years of age (or 16 with parental consent)
Have no pending criminal charges
Have no felony convictions
Possess a valid form of identification
Complete and submit a Ride-Along Request Form
Sign a liability waiver prior to participation

WHAT TO EXPECT

During your ride-along, you will:

Accompany an officer during their patrol shift
Observe traffic stops, calls for service, and daily patrol activities
Learn about police procedures, equipment, and communication
Have the opportunity to ask questions about law enforcement

RULES AND GUIDELINES

Participants must follow all instructions given by the officer at all times
Participants must remain in the vehicle unless directed otherwise
Appropriate attire is required (no offensive clothing, open-toed shoes, or revealing outfits)
No weapons, drugs, or alcohol are permitted
Ride-alongs may be cut short or cancelled at the officer's discretion due to safety concerns or operational needs
All information observed during the ride-along is confidential

IMPORTANT NOTES

Ride-along requests are subject to approval and availability.
Requests should be submitted at least 7 days in advance.
The department reserves the right to deny any request without explanation.
Ride-alongs may be rescheduled or cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
