RIDE-ALONG PROGRAM

The Blueberry Police Department offers a Ride-Along Program that allows members of the community to experience law enforcement firsthand. Participants will accompany a patrol officer during their shift, observing daily operations, calls for service, and community interactions.

PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM

The Ride-Along Program is designed to:
  • Provide insight into the daily duties and responsibilities of police officers
  • Foster a better understanding between the community and law enforcement
  • Allow prospective applicants to experience the job before applying
  • Promote transparency and community engagement
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To participate in a ride-along, you must:
  • Be at least 18 years of age (or 16 with parental consent)
  • Have no pending criminal charges
  • Have no felony convictions
  • Possess a valid form of identification
  • Complete and submit a Ride-Along Request Form
  • Sign a liability waiver prior to participation
WHAT TO EXPECT

During your ride-along, you will:
  • Accompany an officer during their patrol shift
  • Observe traffic stops, calls for service, and daily patrol activities
  • Learn about police procedures, equipment, and communication
  • Have the opportunity to ask questions about law enforcement
RULES AND GUIDELINES
  • Participants must follow all instructions given by the officer at all times
  • Participants must remain in the vehicle unless directed otherwise
  • Appropriate attire is required (no offensive clothing, open-toed shoes, or revealing outfits)
  • No weapons, drugs, or alcohol are permitted
  • Ride-alongs may be cut short or cancelled at the officer's discretion due to safety concerns or operational needs
  • All information observed during the ride-along is confidential

Follow the provided format and submit your request. You will be contacted by a department representative to schedule your ride-along.

IMPORTANT NOTES
  • Ride-along requests are subject to approval and availability.
  • Requests should be submitted at least 7 days in advance.
  • The department reserves the right to deny any request without explanation.
  • Ride-alongs may be rescheduled or cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
